When Dr. James D. Leggett became the pastor of Holmes Memorial Church in Greenville, SC, on Sunday, August 14, 2011, his commitment to the congregation of this historic church was a beacon of hope and confidence.
The saints had prayed and believed God for a brighter future, a new church, and a better location. In less than four months, the congregation is now moving forward under the able leadership of Pastor James Leggett and the church board with the approval of the congregation to construct a new church facility on the new campus of Holmes Bible College to the glory of God.

On Sunday, December 11, 2011, Pastor Leggett and the church board led the congregation in the official groundbreaking ceremony of Holmes Memorial Church on the new Holmes Bible College campus. Though the weather was chilling, the church members and college students gathered on the site after the morning service. Their hands were cold but their hearts were warm with excitement as the people prayed over the grounds and joined in singing hymns of praise. To God be the glory, great things He is doing!
The following photo is the rendering of the architect's drawing of the proposed new Holmes Memorial Church. It will be located on the new campus of Holmes Bible College.
Construction is set to begin before Christmas or shortly thereafter on a five hundred seat auditorium, complete with classroom facilities, kitchen, and fellowship hall. The church will be located on the right side of the campus as you drive in, forming a complete 'U' together with the other campus buildings.
Things are happening at Holmes Memorial Church and the only way we can explain them is that God is still aware of this church and the people, and He has a wonderful destiny for them. This is indeed a kairos moment or a divine moment in the lives of God's people at Holmes Memorial Church.
We believe that the God of heaven appoints every man his work and mission in life. Although Bishop James D. Leggett has had a great career as a pastor, conference superintendent, and the Presiding Bishop of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, it is apparent to this writer that God has designed and ordained this transition in the life and ministry of Dr. Leggett not only to be the president of Holmes Bible College, but the pastor of Holmes Memorial Church as well. In the process of this transition He will provide the grace for all that follows. Therefore, we do rejoice at what God has done in the progressive history of this great Bible school and Pentecostal church.
