Obiturary and funeral arrangements for the Rev. Mr. Henry Duncan, Jr., 81

The Rev. Mr. Henry Duncan Jr., 81, the beloved husband of Mildred M. Duncan and a minister of the South Carolina Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, won his fight, finished his race, and making his Heavenly entrance his faith became sight, on Saturday, February 19, 2011, at the Georgetown Memorial Hospital.

Henry Duncan was born a son of Henry Hope Duncan and Irene Elliott Duncan on April 2, 1929 in Andrews, SC. He was a retired 40+ yr. investigator for the South Carolina Barber Examiner’s Board; was a South Carolina Constable; and was the owner and operator of the Duncan Barber shop. He faithfully served as a minister of the Gospel for over 41 years with the South Carolina Conference of the International Pentecostal Holiness Church. He received Ministerial License on June 29, 1969; received Ordination on June 26, 1971; and retired from full time ministry in 2003. Brother Duncan served the following Pentecostal Holiness Churches: Oak Ridge, Sampit, and McClellanville. Upon retirement he finished his ministry as a member of the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church.

“Preacher Henry“ and “Ms. Mildred” were married on June 25, 1950, and celebrated 61 years together. From their blessed union survive: one son, Donnie D. Duncan; three granddaughters, Sabrina Bone, April (Thomas) McCants, and Pam (Chris) Hanna; and five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Dustin, Justin, Addison, and Krisalyn.

Also surviving are: three brothers, Rev. Elwood (Liz) Duncan, Rev. Donald (Virginia) Duncan, and Burnett (Bertha) Duncan; two sisters, Lorraine D. (Theron, Sr.), Floyd and Dorothy D. Merritt; and a large extended family of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, a great grandson, Brandon; and two brothers, Earl Duncan and DD Duncan.

A Home-Going Celebration with Recognition of Ministerial Service will be 2 p. m., Wednesday, February 23, 2011, at the Andrews First Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment in the Bethel Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

Brother Duncan will lie-in-state from 12 Noon until 9  p. m., Tuesday, February 22, 2011, in the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Holiness Church.

The Duncan family will receive family and friends from 6-9 PM, Tuesday evening, in the Holy Trinity PHC sanctuary.
