G. SCOTT HENRY, Chaplain, Colonel, USAF
USAFE Command Chaplain

What this means is that he will now enter Air Force level of competition for the Edwin R. Chess Award, the highest honor he can receive as a Company Grade Chaplain/Officer.

We are quite naturally very proud of Chaplain Chad Bellamy. His charming wife, Jeri, is to be given a great deal of the credit. He, like most of us men, married up when he married Jeri. She is the wind beneath his wings. They have three handsome and beautiful children: The Mighty Parker, Sweet Daisy, and Adorable and Affable Asher (his name means happy).

If you follow Chaplain Bellamy around for a day or two, you would be dragging. He is energetic, hard working, full of Spizzerinctum, and productive. Let me list a few things:

Conducted a Fall Retreat Weekend for 80 US Navy families assigned to Menwith Hill.

Hosted Jamie Braswell and co taught (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) ASIST and safeTALK training for our community. Empowered people with suicide intervention and awareness skills.

Just completed a Valentines Marriage Enrichment Weekend w/70 adult participants and we provided childcare for 40 kids. We hosted a guest speaker from The Netherlands and offered 6 hrs training. The Chapel sponsored a date night out for all attendees.

Our National Prayer Luncheon is upcoming. We will host Air Vice Marshal Ray Pentland as our guest speaker. AVM Pentland is the Royal Air Force Chaplain in Chief.

We will be conducting a Spring USAF Retreat Weekend targeting 150 families.

[Editor's comment: I have found out that out of 7 nominees for the Air Force wide competition for the Edwin R. Chess Award, the IPHC has 2 chaplains out of the 7.

I had the privilege of meeting Chaplain, Major General Edwin R. Chess in 1966, when we were stationed at McChord AFB. He was promoted to the grade of major general November 1, 1966, at which time he became the Chief of Air Force Chaplain Service. He has so many ribbons on his blue uniform that Melvine told him he had enough ribbons to make a quilt.

Chad is enrolled in the D. Min. degree at Erskine Theological Seminary. That is a major undertaking, and it reveals the determination he has for further post-graduate studies in his field of ministry.]
